THEY may not have gotten all the steps right but they certainly got the pointe. Thirty-six dads from across Newcastle took to the stage with their daughters at the Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Centre on Saturday for the Daddy Daughter Dance.

The event, run by Newcastle-based Tiny Tutus, began here in 2014 and was this year held in every state and territory except Tasmania, with 289 dads taking part across the country.

“It was so beautiful,” Tiny Tutus chief executive Simone Cadell said. “It is magic to see the adoration and the love on the dads’ faces.”

The dancers, aged between three and five, rehearsed with their dads before the big event and, even though not all the dads got the steps right, they had a good time, Ms Cadell said.

“It wasn’t about the steps, it was about the precious moments,” she said.
